Powerball Jackpot Jumps to Nearly $300M for Upcoming Drawing

The start of the year made one lottery player who purchased a ticket for Powerball a millionaire. The lucky Michigan Lottery player hit the game’s grand prize, a staggering $842 million after guessing correctly all winning numbers from the New Year’s Day drawing.

Now, more than two months have passed since the jackpot win and the grand prize from America’s favorite lottery game continues to grow. The latest Powerball drawing was on Monday and saw winning numbers 17, 36, 43, 53, 67 and red Powerball number 14. But the Powerball grand prize was able to survive the latest draw, considering that nobody guessed correctly all the winning numbers.

Now, there are hours left until the next Powerball drawing scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 10:59 PM EST. Unsurprisingly, since the jackpot survived the drawing on Monday, it is now getting closer to $300 million. Powerball confirmed that its jackpot is estimated at $285 million for the upcoming drawing.

The aforementioned sum is the prize in case the lucky person selects annual installment payments. Collection of a lump cash sum is also possible but that would decrease the jackpot value to $137.7 million. Still, even if a lucky lottery player selects a cash option, the sum is mind-blowing.

Data released by Powerball confirms that there was no lucky winner who collected a million-dollar prize for guessing correctly all white balls from Monday’s drawing. Yet, 11 lottery players won a $50,000 prize each for guessing four white balls along with the red Powerball number while four lucky players secured a $100,000 Power Play prize each.

Some 190 lottery players who guessed correctly four white balls secured a $100 prize each. On the other hand, 55 who guessed the same number of white balls hit a $200 Power Play prize each.

The Grand Prize from Mega Millions Grows Too

Besides Powerball, the jackpot from another popular lottery game, Mega Millions, also continues to grow. The drawing on Tuesday saw nobody scoop up the game’s jackpot prize.

Mega Millions’ next drawing is planned for Friday, February 16, 2024. The grand prize of the popular game is expected to hit $457 million. The cash option for the grand prize is a whopping $216.8 million.
