LV Court Dismisses $11.2M Judgment Against Trey Songz
R&B singer Tremaine Neverson, better known as "Trey Songz," recently had an $11.2 million default judgment dismissed in a Las Vegas court

A Las Vegas judge has dismissed the $11.2 million default judgment against singer Tremaine Neverson, better known as Trey Songz.
According to Las Vegas TV station KLAS, Clark County District Court Judge Jacob Reynolds gave the artist’s legal team 30 days to respond to the lawsuit.
Incident at The Cosmopolitan
The judgment stemmed from an incident in November 2021 at The Cosmopolitan hotel, where police officer Tyrelle Dunn claimed that Neverson and his security team attacked him after he attempted to rescue his wife, who allegedly was being held against her will by the singer.
Despite public reports and previous news stories about the lawsuit, Neverson’s legal team contends that their client was unaware of the lawsuit until November 27, 2024, when some of his Instagram fans contacted him following media coverage.
Neverson did not appear in court, but his attorney, Sasha Frid, argued that the judgment would have a devastating impact on him.
The incident reportedly began when Dunn’s wife was escorted to a hotel room where she was allegedly assaulted and had her phone taken.
Upon hearing her cries for help, Dunn attempted to intervene and was allegedly attacked by Neverson’s security guards.
Dunn claims that the attack left him with significant physical injuries, including fractures to both eye sockets, a damaged nose, and multiple other injuries.
As a result, he was forced to miss over a month of work.
In October, Judge Reynolds issued a $11.2M default judgment in the case, with around $5 million allocated for pain and suffering and another $5 million for punitive damages.
Trey Songz Says It Was a Setup
Las Vegas Metro police investigated the incident and confirmed in March 2022 that Songz would not face charges.
“The LVMPD has concluded its investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Tremaine Neverson and determined no criminal charges will be filed. Should new evidence emerge, the case will be reopened,” the department then stated.
Neverson denies the allegations and argues that he was defending himself when the altercation occurred and that Dunn had orchestrated it.
The lawsuit has also named The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas as a defendant. The venue’s Beauty & Essex restaurant was sued in a wrongful death lawsuit last December.
While Dunn’s attorneys claim Neverson was properly served legal documents, Neverson’s legal team argues that the service did not meet the legal requests.
Now, both sides are getting ready for further legal proceedings.
Troubled Past
Neverson has faced several other legal issues in the past. In 2023, the Grammy nominee was named in lawsuits involving allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to 2013 and 2016.
He also has previously faced accusations of assault in incidents that took place at various locations, including in New York and Michigan.
In December 2017, the R&B singer born in Virginia was kicked out of the new MGM National Harbor Casino in Maryland after an incident there.
Roughly a week later, he was arrested for destroying a stage in Detroit.
Dunn’s attorney, Craig Drummond, said that while he respected the court’s recent decision, he plans to “zealously move this case forward.”
The lawsuit will carry on with the aim of including additional defendants, particularly the members of Neverson’s security team.
In August 2024, rapper Nelly was arrested on suspicion of drug possession after winning multiple jackpots and attempting to collect them at a casino near St. Louis.
Of course, not all celeb casino visits end badly. Last October, we reported on the good fortune of rapper and social media influencer Greatness Reinvented, who won a $146,250 jackpot on a Dragon Link game at Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi after fleeing Hurricane Milton in Florida.
