Can Houston Texans Pull Off Another Upset?
When DeMeco Ryans was hired as the boss of the Houston Texans in 2023 – his first job in the head coach role – expectations weren’t too high. However, in his first year of tenure, he led the team to the Divisional Playoffs where Houston was stopped by Baltimore.
In his second year as the man in charge of the Texans, Ryans reached the same stage of the Playoffs. But can he take it a step further this time around? Odds say no, but the Texans were underdogs against the Chargers last week as well.
Their fantastic defensive performance kept LA’s mighty offense at bay, with the Chargers QB getting four of his passes intercepted – that’s more interceptions than Justin Herbert had in the entire regular season.
But this coming Saturday, the Texans are taking on the Chiefs’ offense led by Patrick Mahomes. Can they stop him?
Kansas City Chiefs Already Thinking About Super Bowl
On paper, the Chiefs vs. Texans game looks like an easy game for Andy Reid’s men. After all, they defeated the boys from Houston in every meeting since the start of the decade. In the regular season, they beat them 27:19.
What’s interesting about that game is that two of KC’s touchdowns came through running the ball. Running back Kareem Hunt scored one, while the other TD was the work of Patrick Mahomes, showing once again that the Chiefs have plenty of offensive weapons in their arsenal.
But that’s no surprise, really. After all, this is the team that won the Super Bowl in the last two years. Sure, they might not have been as impressive as they were in the last two campaigns, but they did manage to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC. As a result, they had a bye in the first week of the postseason, that is, an extra week to prepare for the Divisional Round.
Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs Prediction
The Texans did great offensively against the Chargers, but we don’t think they can produce the same level of performance against the Chiefs on Saturday. The AFC Divisional Round Game is played on the Chiefs’ turf, and they’ve had one extra week to prepare for the clash.
And even if all that wasn’t the case, they’d still win. It’s just that they’ve got a much, much better roster than the Texans.
Pick: Kansas City Chiefs -9
