Reasons Why Washington Commanders are Expected to Lose on Saturday
The Washington Commanders finished the regular season with a 12-5 record. Even though their record was great, they didn’t win the division – the Philadelphia Eagles did it. Instead, they got to the Playoffs by clinching a Wild Card spot.
At one point in the regular season, it seemed almost impossible for the Commanders to even dream about the Playoffs. But then, they entered a great run, winning the final five games of the season. The best thing is that they defeated some tough opponents – the Eagles, Falcons, etc.
Then, in the Wild Card Playoffs, they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida. It was a very close game, but in the end, they won thanks to a field goal in the final moment of the game.
Detroit Lions Going for a Big Win
The atmosphere is great at Ford Field after the Detroit Lions won the No. 1 seed in the NFC by beating the Minnesota Vikings in the final week of the regular season. They destroyed the Viks 31:9, which was their 15th win of the season.
As a result, they got to take a rest in the Wild Card Round and prepare better for the Divisional Round. Winning the No. 1 seed also got them to play at home, which is where they have nothing but wins against the Commanders since 2008.
In their most recent duel – in 2022 – the Lions won 36:27, with quarterback Jared Goff producing four touchdown passes. Given that his form in 2024 has been nothing short of sensational, we wouldn’t be surprised if he did something like that on Saturday.
Washington Commanders vs. Detroit Lions Prediction
The Detroit Lions are so good that we think they’ll destroy the Washington Commanders on January 18. Their defense can stop the Commanders’ offense from doing much, but it’s their Jared Goff-led offense that we expect to shine.
The Lions scored 181 points in their last five games, which accounts for over 36 points per game. We think they’ll get close to that number on Saturday, which should be enough to cover the spread.
Pick: Detroit Lions -9.5
