The Man Won $15M from a Scratch-off Ticket

Fernando Ayala, a man who immigrated to the US when he was only 12, has become California’s newest millionaire after winning a jaw-dropping $15 million from the lottery.

According to the report, Ayala first bought a Royal Jackpot scratch-off ticket and won a more modest $40 prize. The ticket was bought from a Quik Stop at 601 N. Cloverdale Boulevard in Cloverdale, Sonoma County.

While this prize wasn’t quite a multi-million dollar one, Ayala returned the next day and used his winnings to buy another ticket. This time, he ended up winning a staggering $15 million.

Ayala Doesn’t Plan to Stop Working

Speaking to California Lottery representatives, Ayala said that his life in America hasn’t always been easy.

I was sleeping by the river and washed dishes for years. I never made this kind of money and I know how hard it is to earn a living.

Although Ayala has since improved his life, getting married and having a kid, he admitted that the money will be a great boon that would allow him to spend more time with his family and live his life to the fullest.

However, Ayala said that he doesn’t plan to stop working. After working his whole life, he has learned the value of money, with hard work becoming a core part of his identity.

Other Californians Won Big

In other news, a player in California recently won a Match 5 prize from Powerball. While the usual size of this prize is $1 million (or $2 million if Power Play is active), the player got $470,739 due to the fact that the California Lottery modifies the prizes based on the number of tickets sold.

Last month, Sky River Casino saw two players win $580,000 collectively.
