Anonymous Illinois Man Scoops up $4.1M Jackpot

The odds of winning, according to the Illinois Lottery, stand at 1 in 15,890,700, according to official information

The Illinois Lottery has handed a $4.1 million jackpot to a lucky local player. This is notably the third-largest prize that the lottery in the Prairie State has handed this year.

The winning ticket was purchased at the BP gas station in McCook, around 14 miles south of Chicago. As the venue that sold the winning ticket, the station will receive a bonus of $41,000.

The prize was won at the May 2 Lotto drawing. The player in question successfully matched all six numbers. For context, the winning numbers were 2, 3, 9, 19, 32 and 40. The winner preferred to remain anonymous. Illinois is one of the 18 states where lottery winners can opt to not disclose their identity publicly.

As mentioned, this is the third-largest prize won by an Illinois Lotto player this year. The second-largest was won on March 28 by a lottery player who purchased a ticket at Prestige Liquor in Chicago. For reference, that player took a prize of $5.45 million back home.

The biggest prize for 2024, however, was won on February 1 when a lucky player matched all winning numbers to win a whopping $10.4 million. That ticket was sold at a Shell gas station in Port Ridge.

The jackpot has now been reset to $2 million. The odds of winning, according to the Illinois Lottery, stand at 1 in 15,890,700.
