AGA Introduces Keep Your Cool as RG Campaign’s Latest Pillar
The American Gaming Association’s highly-popular Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly campaign is getting another upgrade
The American Gaming Association has announced a plan to expand its Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly campaign.
The campaign is now going to feature a fifth pillar, known as “Keep Your Cool,” which is seeking to address an emerging issue which has to do with the increased instances of sports bettors taking out their dissatisfaction with a failed bet on the athletes or teams they have bet on.
Preventing Abuse and Harassment of Athletes as Part of Wider RG Efforts
The Keep Your Cool pillar is designed to address this emerging and festering problem that has been raised by teams, college organizations, and athletes themselves, who have been suffering from online abuse.
States such as Wyoming have responded by forcing people who abuse athletes on the state’s Involuntary Self-Exclusion List, to prohibit them from gambling legally. As to the new campaign, AGA President and CEO Bill Miller has welcomed the efforts, saying:
“Responsible gaming efforts like Have a Game Plan and other proactive efforts by legal operators are resonating with consumers and making a difference
Keep Your Cool builds on this momentum by reminding bettors that a betting result – good or bad – is not an invitation to criticize a team, official, or athlete.”
The latest introduction to AGA’s efforts to make gambling safer and more socially responsible follows another important achievement for the association. A few weeks ago, the AGA released data according to which, 66% of all Americans believe that RG initiatives by the industry are indeed effective – a notable improvement from the 59% who said so back in 2023.
Bettors Believe Industry’s Social Responsibility and RG Efforts Genuine
When it comes to those engaged in gambling, the numbers go up even further. An estimated 79% of all physical casino players and 85% of sports bettors agree that RG efforts by big companies are efficient.
With the addition of the Keep Your Cool pillar, players are now reminded to respect the game – and that winning and losing are all part of sports betting, and nobody is perfect, but also to stay focused and have fun – meaning that sports gambling is ultimately an activity purely designed for the sake of having fun through and through.
Although the gambling industry in the US still faces stiff challenges, the outlook is mostly positive.
