Winning Ticket in Florida Hits Record-Setting Mega Millions Jackpot

The game's latest jackpot which was approximately $1.58 billion dropped Tuesday and is estimated to be the highest to date

A lucky ticket-holder in Florida won the record-sized Mega Millions jackpot following the lottery’s drawing on Tuesday. The jackpot was able to survive for quite some time, surpassing $1 billion before finally, a lucky winner guessed all white balls and the gold Mega Ball on the 31st drawing from August 8, 2023. The lucky winner guessed correctly all white balls, 13, 19, 20, 32 and 33, as well as the gold Mega Ball, 14.

This enabled the lucky individual to hit the jackpot which is estimated at $1.58 billion or $783.3 million in cash. There was a single winning ticket for the mega jackpot, which is estimated to be a new record for the Mega Millions game. The latest jackpot is expected to surpass the previous $1.537 billion record set back in October 2018 by a lucky winner from South Carolina.

During the 31 drawings leading to the jackpot win, some 43.7 million winners secured prizes across all tiers. This included a total of 69 second-tier prizes granting $1 million or more, won in 28 different jurisdictions across the United States, including California, New Jersey, Florida, Iowa, New York and many more.

More than 7 Million Lucky Players Collect Different Prizes

From the August 8 drawing, there were a total of 7,056,452 winning tickets within all prize tier levels. The latest drawing saw seven winners guess correctly all white numbers. While five of those winners collected a $1 million prize each, two lucky winners paid an extra $1 for a Megaplier that doubled their prize to $2 million each.

Some 166 lucky Mega Millions players guessed correctly the four white balls and the gold Mega Ball. From that total, 28 used a Megaplier, collecting a $20,000 prize each, while the remaining went home with a $10,000 prize each.

We congratulate our newest jackpot winner, as well as the more than 43.7 million winners at all prize levels throughout this jackpot run.
