Widow Claims Wrongful Death in Lawsuit Against Venetian
The owners of the popular Las Vegas hotel and casino resort are sued by the wife of a man who died while staying there and was robbed by a sex worker

The widow and children of a man, who had passed away from a drug overdose after an encounter with a sex worker at the Venetian’s Palazzo in Las Vegas, filed a lawsuit against the owners of the famous hotel and casino resort. The lawsuit alleges wrongful death, accusing the venue’s security of not warning the victim that he was targeted by the sex worker, who conspired with her pimp to rob him.
Sex Worker and Accomplice Were Already Sentenced to Prison
The criminal case involved a 55-year-old victim, Jeffrey Jacoby, from Colorado, who visited the Palazzo back in March 2023. At the time, the man attended a work conference and in the early morning hours on March 1 was accompanied by a sex worker he met on site. Hours later, the victim was found on the bathroom floor, passed away from a fentanyl overdose. The 55-year-old man had also been robbed.
A man and a woman were identified as prime suspects of the crime. The sex worker, Cheylee Kessee, and her pimp, Kashon Glass, reportedly had a long history of violent crimes, including robberies some of which involved the use of a firearm. The duo had been on the police’s radar for some time and were detained after an operation that involved the Metro Police SWAT unit.
Kessee and Glass faced a range of charges, including murder after delivering the fentanyl that ultimately resulted in the overdose of the 55-year-old victim. Despite the long list of charges, the two culprits admitted only to robbery and voluntary manslaughter. As a result, Kessee was sent for 20 years behind bars, while her pimp, Glass, was sentenced to 50 years in prison. The former may face parole after serving eight years, while the latter needs to serve a minimum of 20 years for a shot at parole.
Lawsuit Claims Hotel Security Bears Liability for the Victim’s Passing
The recently filed lawsuit by the victim’s widow, Jennifer Jacoby, claims that the owners of the Palazzo, Venetian Casino Resort, bear some liability for her husband’s passing. The lawsuit alleges that the venue’s security should have warned her husband that while talking with the sex worker, Kessee, he was followed by Glass.
In addition, the lawsuit claims the sex worker and her pimp had a long history of “targeting hotel guests to rob and victimize them” and that Las Vegas hotel and casino operators were aware of their unlawful actions. In the legal claim, the plaintiff doesn’t indicate the exact sum they are seeking in damages from Palazzo’s owners.
The 55-year-old victim was found on the bathroom floor of his hotel room. The man, who was a father of three children, passed away from a fentanyl overdose and was discovered by a hotel employee after his wife called for a welfare check.
