US Casinos Temporarily Shut down amid Hurricane Francine Threat
Several casinos in states along the US Gulf Coast temporarily closed their doors due to the extreme weather conditions
Businesses in a several states along the US Gulf Coast were recently impacted by the Category 2 hurricane, Hurricane Francine earlier this week. The severe weather conditions temporarily closed several casinos in Mississippi, as well as Louisiana.
The hurricane hit Louisiana’s coast, where winds reached 100 mph on Wednesday evening. Reaching Mississippi, the hurricane was downgraded, as announced by the National Hurricane Center. Satellite images released by the Center position the storm between Texas and Louisiana but instead of a hurricane, it is now labeled as Tropical Storm Francine with maximum winds of 45 mph.
Silver Slipper Casino Hotel Temporary Closes Amenities
Due to the extreme weather, the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel in Mississippi announced Tuesday that it temporarily closed its doors. Late on Tuesday, the casino said that its table games, valet, gift shop, as well as Jubilee Buffet will be closed on September 11. “Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11: The following will be CLOSED: Jubilee Buffet – Blue Bayou – Table Games – Valet – Promotions – Gift Shop – Host Desk,” wrote the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel.
The venue confirmed that it will resume normal business as of Thursday, September 12. Still, Silver Slipper Casino Hotel said that further updates will be released if necessary and encouraged everyone to “stay safe and continue to monitor for further updates.”
As a popular gaming and entertainment location, Silver Slipper Casino offers a range of slots, table games and video poker. The venue also provides a range of dining options, among other amenities.
The Hurricane Forces Casino Closure in Mississippi Too
Similarly to Silver Slipper Casino, Coushatta Casino Resort in neighboring Mississippi also temporarily closed its doors. Late on Tuesday, the casino resort confirmed that due to Hurricane Francine, it will temporarily close its doors, effective from Wednesday, September 11 at 2 AM.
“To ensure the safety of our guests and associates during Hurricane Francine, Coushatta Casino Resort will temporarily close, effective Wednesday, September 11 at 2 AM,”
reads a statement released by the casino resort
Coushatta Casino Resort said that with its decision, it seeks to ensure the safety and well-being of all its guests and employees. “We are looking forward to seeing you when we re-open Thursday at 12noon or when conditions are deemed safe to do so,” the venue added.
In an update, Coushatta Casino Resort thanked everyone for their patience in light of the closure due to Hurricane Francine. The venue added that its doors will open as of Thursday, September 12 at 6 AM.
