Telegram Bans TG.Casino Amid Gambling Concerns

According to a notification by Telegram, TS.Casino has violated the social media platform’s Terms of Service

Social media and instant messaging giant Telegram appears to have taken action to ban TG.Casino from its platform. The social media service, which has been previously scrutinized for becoming an online gambling hotspot, seems to be cracking down on casinos on its app.

Operators Have Leveraged Telegram’s Capabilities to Host Online Casinos

As it turns out, TG.Casino has been seemingly banned on Telegram. Describing itself as “the world’s fastest growing casino” on X, the operator has served as a regional partner of AC Milan in Europe since last year.

TG.Casino, however, has now become unavailable to Telegram users, suggesting a ban.

TG.Casino was one of Telegram’s controversial casinos. Telegram casinos, for context, run entirely on the social messaging app, leveraging the platform’s functionalities and bots to run full-fledged gambling enterprises. As a result, players in Telegram have been able to engage in gaming without even leaving the app.

Many of these products, however, are not regulated in certain markets, which has become a point of contention. Critics have accused Telegram of creating an environment where such products can thrive, prompting it to take action.

TG.Casino Got Banned from Telegram

Sources told GamblingNews that the TG.Casino Portal, a Telegram channel boasting some 36K+ subscribers, has become unavailable to users. According to the report, all sites and pages associated with the online casino are now unavailable.

Trying to open the platform results in users receiving a message telling them that it cannot be displayed.

Unfortunately, this bot can’t be displayed on Telegram apps downloaded from the Google Play Store.

This is in line with Google Play’s general crackdown on apps featuring certain content. Because of that, the Google Play version of the Telegram app sports a variety of filters preventing certain content from appearing to users. As a result, Telegram users who have downloaded the platform from Google Play, are prevented from accessing questionable content that Google does not want to be associated with.

Upon further research, however, it seems that the TG.Casino Portal has been banned from Telegram as a whole. Trying to access the Telegram casino via the main version of the app greets players with the following message:

This bot can’t be displayed because it violated Telegram’s Terms of Service.

From this, it looks like the social media platform has taken action to uphold its status as a safe messaging service and crack down on services that violate its ToS.

How Do Telegram Casinos Work?

As mentioned, Telegram casinos have been using bots to provide players with smooth experiences. Instead of navigating the sometimes-complex iGaming space, players can simply tell the bot what game they would like to play and jump straight into the action.

As a result, such products have resonated with players, providing them with unparalleled convenience. Since many of these operators accept crypto payments, blockchain enthusiasts have been flocking to Telegram casinos.

However, Telegram casinos have caused trouble for the social media platform, subjecting it to regulatory scrutiny in some markets.
