A major legal challenge has been launched against Sportradar Group AG after the company’s shares suddenly dropped amid allegations that it may have been linked to illegal gambling activity.

Up to 40% of Revenue Allegedly Derived from Unlicensed Operators

International securities law firm Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP confirmed that it has filed a class action lawsuit in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York against Sportradar as well as certain senior executives.

The case accuses the company of securities fraud, alleging it misled investors about its business practices and compliance standards.

The lawsuit comes after a steep market reaction to investigative reports published on April 22 by Muddy Waters and Callisto Research

The respective reports claimed that Sportradar had allegedly derived a significant portion of its revenue from either unlicensed or illegal operators, suggesting exposure could range between 20% and 40% of total revenue.

The findings also indicated that US regulators had begun reviewing aspects of the company’s operations.

The reports triggered a sharp selloff, with Sportradar’s shares falling 22.6% in a single trading session, dropping from $16.84 to $13.04.

The legal filing also claims that investors who purchased Sportradar shares during the relevant period could also join the class action lawsuit, with July 17, 2026 as the deadline for investors seeking appointment as lead plaintiff.

The complaint alleges violations of Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the US Securities Exchange Act of 1934. The case, titled Smale v. Sportradar Group AG, is now pending in federal court.

Sportradar has previously rejected the allegations, stating that it operates under strict compliance systems and only works with licensed betting operators.

The company also maintains partnerships with major sports leagues including the NBA, MLB, NHL, and PGA Tour.
