Can Serbia Beat the US Dream Team?
The short answer is no. Our Serbia vs. Team USA prediction is that the Dream Team will win not only this game but the gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games. The only question surrounding the July 28 game is whether the Americans are going to cover the huge 15-point spread.
They did it the last time they played Serbia at the Olympics. However, it was in 2016, when Serbia’s roster wasn’t as strong as the one that’s coming to Paris. In 2024, Serbia’s team is led by the NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, who’s the key player for the Denver Nuggets.
Two more NBA players are on Serbia’s Olympic roster – Bogdan Bogdanovic (Atlanta Hawks) and Vasilije Micic (Charlotte Hornets).
On top of everything, Serbia’s coach is Svetislav Pesic, a 74-year-old who’s one of the most successful coaches in European basketball. One of the greatest achievements in his career is the win of Yugoslavia over Team US at the 2002 FIBA World Cup in Indianapolis, in which the Americans were dubbed the Dream Team.
Is Team USA Really the Dream Team?
Team USA looks as strong as it’s ever been. The roster of players coach Steve Kerr has at his disposal is made of some of the best NBA players in 2024. LeBron James, Steph Curry, Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Joel Embiid, and many other superstars are coming to France.
Some believe that the 2024 roster is even better than the legendary 1992 Dream Team that featured 14 Hall of Famers. In the Olympics that year, the US team won Gold, beating its opponents by 44 points on average on the road to the medal. Is it crazy to think that the 2024 Team US can beat that record?
The Americans are coming to France not only to win Gold at the 2024 Olympics but also to break records. For aging players like LeBron James who’s turning 40 this year, this tournament is of incredible importance. They want to say farewell to the national team with some impressive performances.
Serbia vs. Team US Prediction
The United States basketball team will beat Serbia, there’s no doubt about that. This is why Team USA’s odds for the July 28 game are as short as -1667. But can they cover the 15-point spread? Sure they can! In fact, given how many superstars are there on this team’s roster, it would be embarrassing if they didn’t.
Pick: Team US (-15)
