Security Shoots Attacker after Stabbing at Las Vegas Casino
In the incident at Red Rock Casino on Saturday, two people were stabbed while the attacker was shot by a casino guard
A violent crime at a Las Vegas casino left three people injured over the weekend. The accident at Red Rock Resort dates to the early morning hours of Saturday, August 3, 2024. At approximately 1:30 AM, law enforcement was dispatched to the popular casino located at 11000 W Charleston Blvd in Las Vegas.
The police responded to a call about two people who had been stabbed and one who had been shot, as announced by 8 News Now. The incident reportedly happened inside the casino.
One person allegedly stabbed two individuals. Then, to prevent further escalation, a security guard reportedly shot the suspect. Police data suggests that the person responsible for the stabbings is a 25-year-old man with the initials S.S.
After the incident, all three wounded casino patrons were transported to a hospital. Two of the people sustained significant injuries.
It is unclear whether each of the men knew each other. Also, it remains to be confirmed what was the reason behind the attack of the 25-year-old man against the two men.
Red Rock Is Grateful for the Decisive and Swift Actions of Its Security Team
Red Rock’s team members were notified about the incident via an update report signed by the venue’s VP and general manager, Scott Nelson. The letter was sent on Saturday, acknowledging that the recent incident was serious but still “rare and isolated.”
Nelson wrote: “While we are all shaken up by this random act of violence, we are grateful for the swift and decisive actions of our security team, which prevented a terrible incident from being much worse.” He explained that Red Rock remains dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all of its guests and team members. Nelson added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with our affected team members – please join us in wishing them a quick and complete recovery.”
The exec spoke about the incident, acknowledging that it is traumatic for the members which is why Red Rock will provide relevant support such as counseling. According to Nelson, employees will also receive information related to coping with traumatic experiences, helping each other and responding to trauma.
Red Rock’s VP and general manager thanked police officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, as well as the paramedics who arrived on the scene. “With our strong family spirit, we will pull through this together,” wrote Nelson in conclusion.
The 25-year-old man who stabbed the two casino patrons and was subsequently shot is reportedly facing a range of charges. The suspect faces one count of battery with the use of a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, three counts of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, as well as four counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon.
