Scientific Games Inks New Five-Year Contract with Mass Lottery
The Massachusetts Lottery and Scientific Games inked a new five-year contract. Under the contract, SG will provide instant lottery games for the Mass Lottery. The new contract marks five decades of a successful partnership between the two entities.
SG Enters Five Decades of Supplying Mass Lottery with Instant Games
The gambling and sports betting technology provider Scientific Games announced that it has been awarded a new five-year contract from the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission (MSLC) to supply the Massachusetts Lottery with instant games. Moreover, with the new contract, SG enters five decades of supplying the Lottery with instant games.
With that in mind, the new contract may be extended up to two years by the MSLC. Furthermore, the new contract also brings second chance game promotions like the James Bond Lottery Challenge which can be played via desktop or mobile.

In a statement, Scientific Games’ Senior VP, Lottery Instant Products, John Schulz, said that the Mass Lottery has been the highest performing instant game lottery in the world. In addition, he said that the Lottery continues to “set the bar for lotteries around the globe“.
Furthermore, Schulz stressed that SG is extremely proud of the results of this long-lasting business partnership spanning across four decades. The second chance and digital services that SG offers are the industry’s first and the company will continue to expand its player engagement across the online channels in Massachusetts, said Schulz in conclusion.
The Partnership between SG and Mass Lottery Continues to Expand
Ed Farley, Chief Marketing Officer for MSLC also shared positive thoughts about the new contract. He added that the combined expertise of the Lottery and the SG team resulted in great instant game entertainment. Furthermore, strong revenues were generated to “benefit programs in the Commonwealth“.

Currently, Scientific Games creates and produces approximately 96% of the instant games for the Lottery in Massachusetts. Out of $3.6 billion in total instant game retail sales for the 2020 fiscal year, some $3 billion were generated by SG products. Furthermore, since the start of the 2021 fiscal year on July 1, 2020, the company helped the Lottery grow instant game sales by $99.7 million or 11.3%.
Since 1974, Scientific Games has produced instant games for the Massachusetts Lottery. According to the SG statement, with its product and expertise the company helped the Lottery grow to be the “No. 1 instant game lottery in the world (La Fleur’s Almanac, 2019 per capita sales)“.
