Miami Man Wins Life-Changing $25M from Scratch-Off Ticket

The Florida Lottery announced that a player from Miami has won a jaw-dropping $25 million from one of the lottery’s scratch-off games. The player visited the lottery HQ to scoop up their winnings earlier this year, opting to take the one-time payment.

The Man Won One of the Two Top Prizes in the Gold Rush Multiplier Game

In its announcement on April 14, the Florida Lottery announced Lincoln Diaz as the winner of a $25 million top prize from the $25,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER scratch-off game. The lottery described the lucky player as a 68-year-old lottery enthusiast from Miami and said that his winning ticket was purchased from Walmart, located at 14720 S.W. 26th Street in Miami.

According to the report, Diaz visited the lottery HQ in Tallahassee on January 12 to claim his winnings. Just like many other big lottery winners, he chose the lump-sum option and thus took home $15,960,000 before taxes.

The Florida Lottery explained that, at launch, the $25,000,000 GOLD RUSH MULTIPLIER game featured two top prizes of $25 million, as well as 60 second-tier prizes of $1 million. According to the lottery’s official website, one of the top prizes still remains, as well as half of the second-tier prizes.

The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 16,639,785. The odds of winning any prize, including break-even prizes, on the other hand, are 1 in 4.09. Tickets cost $50 apiece.
