Los Angeles Rams Ready for War at Soldier Field
The last time these two played, the final score was 24:23 for the Lions. It happened in January at Ford Field in the Wild Card game. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was great in that game. He was pretty good in most of the Rams’ games last season, and we expect nothing less from him in 2024.
In fact, we think that Stafford is going to do even better than last season as he now has Kevin Dotson and Jonah Jackson to protect him. He also now has way more options to throw the ball to. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is still there, tight end Tyler Higbee is back from an injury, and tight end Colby Parkinson is a new addition, coming from the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason.
Their defense, however, is significantly weaker than last year, following the retirement of Aaron Donald. They also lost their defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, who’s now the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Detroit Lions Looking Incredible in 2024
If you take a look at the Detroit Lions’ 2024 roster, you’ll see that this is a team that needs to be thought of as a genuine contender for the Super Bowl. These guys are great in literally every aspect of the game, with practically all of their key men being in their prime right now.
Their quarterback Jared Goff is still in his 20s, but he already has plenty of experience. He even has experience with winning the Lombardi Trophy – he won it back when he was with the Rams.
Goff has many elite receivers to throw the ball to, most notably Amon-Ra St. Brown, Isaiah Williams, and Jameson Williams, all of whom are 23 years old coming into the new NFL season.
Detroit’s defense looked bad in a couple of games last season, but the Lions have invested a lot of money to fix that issue. Nose tackle D. J. Reader was brought in from the Cincinnati Bengals, along with cornerbacks Carlton Davis from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Amik Robertson from the Las Vegas Raiders.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions Prediction
Same as pretty much all previous Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions duels of the 21st century, the one in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season is guaranteed to be a real thriller. Our prediction is that this is going to be a very close game, but we do think the Lions will win in the end. Will they cover the spread? We’re not so sure. If they do, they’ll probably do it by a point or two.
Pick: Detroit Lions
