New England Patriots Start a New Chapter on September 8
The New England Patriots have a new coach. For the first time in 24 years, they’re not coached by Bill Belichick. Instead, the man in charge is their former linebacker coach Jerod Mayo. His coaching credentials aren’t too great, but you can think of him as Belichick’s protégé who learned from the best.
Unfortunately for Mayo, he doesn’t have too many elite players at his disposal. In fact, the Patriots look like one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2024.
Last season, they finished 4-13, and we suspect they won’t do much better this time around either. They might get a win or two more, but they probably won’t get to the postseason. Meanwhile, their Week 1 opponents have every right to hope for a very successful season.
Cincinnati Bengals Dreaming Big in 2024
Joe Burrow is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but he struggled with injuries last season, playing just 10 games in the end. However, he’s fit now and ready to start the season in top gear. When he’s in the mood for playing, Cincinnati’s opponents are the ones to suffer.
But the Bengals aren’t just about Burrow. Ja’Marr Chase is a Pro Bowl wide receiver, who’s expected to have an even better season than last year. In 2024, the Bengals also have some really good defensive players, especially after singing Sheldon Rankins from the Houston Texans.
Their ground game might not be too great after losing their best running back from the 2023 season – Joe Mixon – to the Texans. The former Indianapolis Colts player Zack Moss was signed as his replacement, but we’re not sure if he’s gonna do much. But he doesn’t have to produce many yards if Burrow stays healthy.
New England Patriots vs. Cincinnati Bengals Prediction
The Cincinnati Bengals will win this game without any issues. In fact, we might see them blow the Patriots out if Burrow puts on a good show. And we think he will. That’s why our prediction is that the Bengals will cover the spread.
Pick: Cincinnati Bengals -9
