Illinois Lottery Scratch-Off Ticket Secures $1M Prize

A $50 scratch-off ticket in Illinois has resulted in a substantial payout for one lucky Palos Hills resident.

Identified simply as John, and by his chosen lottery nickname – Music Man – the winner claimed the seven-figure prize playing the Millionaire Club Instant Ticket. This is not the first time John has won from the lottery either. 

Repeat Lottery Winner Becomes Millionaire This Time Around

While paying $50 for a single ticket seems like a lot, the subsequent $1,000,000 payout has made it more than worth it. “I wasn’t that shocked, but I was excited. I could feel my father’s presence with me when I walked into the store, which felt like a sign,” the winner recounted.

“After I scanned the ticket to confirm the win, I immediately shared the news with my sister and mother. They were thrilled,” the winner said, attributing this and past wins to his father. 

He purchased the ticket at a popular Jewel-Osco shop, this one specifically located at 7329 S Cass Ave in Darien. The retailer will get a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket as well. 

John has shared that he has been rather lucky playing the lottery, and he previously managed to flip a $10 Holiday Bucks ticket into a $50,000 win, with the man apparently getting quite lucky on two separate instances.

The habit of playing the lottery frequently also hasn’t hurt his chances. John attributed the previous win to the anniversary of his father’s passing, recounting how on that fateful day, he saw a flock of geese, and his father, having been a hunter, he felt that it was a symbol for him to try his luck at the lottery. 

John says that he was also thinking of his late father when he purchased his most recent $1,000,000 ticket. Lottery superstitions are a known ritual that gamblers engage in, although there is hardly any proof that this is why they win – John just got lucky, and that’s the end of it.
