Genius Sports Appoints Chair and Director, David Levy Takes Advisory Role
Mark Locke, Genius Sports’ chief executive officer, welcomed the new appointees to the board, saying that their vision will be instrumental in driving the next phase of company growth.
Sports data, tech and broadcasting specialist Genius Sports announced changes to its board, including the appointment of an industry heavyweight as chair and the transfer of ex-chair Levy to and advisory role. In addition, the company will welcome a new independent director.
According to Genius Sports, its board will now be chaired by Kenneth J Ken, a gambling industry powerhouse who has previously served high-profile companies in C-suite capacities.
Prior to joining Genius Sports as chair, Kay served as chief financial officer of MGM Holdings. He has also been a member of the Dole Food Company, Richard Ellis Group and Las Vegas Sands. With an impressive track record behind his back, Kay is expected to be a valuable addition to Genius Sports’ board of directors.
Kay is no stranger to Genius Sports’ team and has served as an independent director since March 2023. He has already made an “outstanding contribution” to the board, offering a “rare combination of financial and operational expertise,” the company said.
As chair, Kay will leverage broad business proficiency to propel the business forward.
In the meantime, chair David Levy will transfer to an advisory position. Having served as chair since 2021, he has underpinned Genius Sports’ business by boosting its technological capabilities, driving customer acquisition and forming remarkable deals across the sports, betting, media and broadcasting sectors.
Last but not least, Claire Valoti, co-founder of Haylo Ventures and former VP of international at Snap, will join Genius Sports’ board as an independent director. As one of the masterminds behind Snap’s international growth, Valoti would bring valuable acumen to the board.
CEO Locke Welcomed the New Appointees on Board
Mark Locke, Genius Sports’ chief executive officer, welcomed the new appointees to the board, saying that their vision will be instrumental in driving the next phase of company growth. In addition, CEO Locke thanked the outgoing chair for his incredible service and said that he is glad that Levy will continue to serve the firm in an advisory capacity.
Levy himself expressed his thoughts on his time as chair, saying that he takes pride in his achievements in the position. He added that he is glad to continue his relationship with the company,
In the meantime, Kay commented on his appointment, saying that it has been an honor to serve and independent director. He is now looking forward to tackling the new challenges his new position will entitle.
