White Springs Man Takes $1M Home
Edwin Scroggin, the first of the recent winners had decided to try out his luck on a $30 scratcher. This fateful decision soon provided the fortunate lottery enthusiast with the life-changing prize of $1 million.
The White Springs native bought the $30 Florida 300X THE CASH ticket at a local supermarket. Lottery officials clarified that the ticket was purchased from a Winn-Dixie on South Marion Street in Lake City. The shop received a $2,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
Scroggin visited the lottery headquarters in Gainesville to claim his prize, opting to take a lump-sum payment of $695,500. He didn’t disclose his plans for the prize.

On October 21, the lottery also announced that another player, James Muckenthaler, of Apollo Beach, won $2 million from a 100X THE CASH scratcher. Just like Scroggin, Muckenthaler opted for the lump-sum option, taking home some $1,280,000.
The winning ticket, for context, was sold at a 7-Eleven, located at 13220 US Highway 301 South in Riverview. Lottery officials added that the retailer has received a bonus of $4,000 for selling the ticket.
