Hubert Wang, the former president and chief operating officer of MGM China, has reportedly crossed over to Sands China and will serve as the latter company’s chief operating officer. In this role, Wang will oversee casino and hospitality operations at the company and will be responsible for its marketing and strategy.

Wang Joins as COO & Executive Committee Member

According to a report by Inside Asian Gaming, an internal memo from Grant Chum, Sands China’s president and chief executive officer, confirmed the appointment of Wang as COO. The Asia-focused news outlet also said that the announcement revealed that Wang will be joining the SCL Executive Committee.

As COO and a member of the committee, Wang will be responsible for Sands China’s casino and hospitality operations, local and international marketing, loyalty program, and strategic analysis of the business.

According to Inside Asian Gaming’s announcement, he will step into the office on June 1, 2026. The news outlet also pointed out that Wang took the 28th spot on its 2025 Asian Gaming Power 50 list.

Wang Brings 30 Years of Experience to the Team

Wang is an industry veteran with some thirty years of experience in IR operations and a deep familiarity with the Macau gambling sector. As mentioned, he previously served MGM Resorts International’s MGM China division, but quit in December 2025 after spending some 14 years with the company.

While Wang spent his recent years at MGM China, he is not a complete Sands China newcomer. During his earlier career, he was part of the opening team at The Venetian Macao in 2007 and the iconic Marina Bay Sands property in Singapore in 2010.

Wang was described as a Macau gaming expert, whose appointment as COO is expected to be a valuable addition to the Sands China C-suite. CEO Chum emphasized that the appointment reflects his company’s unwavering commitment to investing in products, services, and team members that allow it to remain ahead of the curve.
