UAW Initiate Lawsuit against Donald Trump and Elon Musk
The Union's move comes after a conversation between the two billionaires from earlier this week

Two recognizable public faces and billionaires are the subject of a new lawsuit filed in the US by the United Auto Workers (UAW), a union that represents one million members across the country, including employees from the gambling industry. The lawsuit filed by the UAW is against Elon Musk, the SpaceX and Tesla CEO, as well as former US president Donald Trump.
The legal action follows a chat between the two billionaires on X, formerly Twitter. UAW’s alleged that the duo used a language that sought to “threaten” and “intimidate” their workers. Musk and Trump discussed a case that involved workers who admitted to planning a strike after Twitter was purchased by Musk.
In the discussion, Trump said to Musk: “I look at what you do. You walk in, you say: ‘You want to quit?’ They go on strike, I don’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike and you say, ‘That’s OK, you’re all gone. You’re all gone. So, every one of you is gone.'”
Currently, it is prohibited for employees in the US to be terminated due to their intent or participation in a strike. This is one of the requirements employers need to follow under federal law.
Trump Will Side against Workers, Claims UAW’s President
UAW’s president, Shawn Fain, took it to the union’s page on X to comment on the topic. “When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” he explained.
Moreover, UAW’s president claimed that Trump will always stand against workers who want to stand up for themselves. “And he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected,” added Fain.
Finally, the UAW’s president wrote: “Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”
Prior to President Joe Biden’s announcement to withdraw from the presidential race, he received endorsement from the UAW. After his drop from the race, the union endorsed Trump’s biggest rival, Kamala Harris for president.
The Union’s Actions Draw Criticism Online
The recent lawsuit and criticism from the UAW caught the attention of Musk. He took it to X and wrote about Fain: “The last two UAW presidents went to prison for bribery & corruption and, based on recent news, it looks like this guy will join them!”
Users online also disagreed with UAW’s position with one submitting a response to the Union’s post on X saying: “F**k you. You’re the scrab.”
Another user online also criticized the union. They wrote: “Your Union promotes COMMUNISM and is un-American!”
Others shared a similar opinion to Musk, asking the UAW to “look in the mirror.” The same person predicted that UAW’s current president, Fain, would go to prison just like the former presidents.
