Polygon Teams up with Community Gaming for Esports Tourneys
Following a successful $2.5-million funding round, Community Gaming has secured sponsorship from blockchain company Polygon for more competitive events.
Polygon Blockchain Meets Esports in New Tournament Series
Polygon, the protocol and framework for building and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks, is now getting involved with esports, bringing a new level of compatibility, swift payouts, and opportunities for aspiring video gamers. The company is investing $10,000 in Community Gaming, an esports platform that hosts low-tier competitions.
To kick off the collaboration, Polygon is launching a new tournament series that will take place during the summer and be available for players of SkyWeaver, not exactly a popular esports title, but a non-fungible token (NFT) trading card game nonetheless that is free to play and developed by Horizon Blockchain Games.
Polygon intends this to be the first tournament in the series, said Min Kin, chief marketing officer at the company. Kin was joined by Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal who said: “By integrating with Community Gaming, we continue to bridge the gap between decentralized technologies and the competitive gaming community with fast and cheap payments combined with secure and trustless on-chain transactions.”
Community Gaming is a cutting-edge platform that facilities payouts and completes tournament winnings transactions in a matter of seconds. The platform argues that, unlike traditional tournament organizers, players don’t have to wait over extended periods of time to receive their rewards, replacing transaction times with instantaneous payments instead.

A previous event, “Axie Infinity Squads League,” has awarded winners in seconds, the press release announcing the deepening of collaboration between Polygon and Community Gaming announced.
Community Gaming is also focusing on the play-to-earn game model, which in essence moves it away from traditional esports titles, such as Counter-Strike, Dota 2, or League of Legends, and brings it closer to blockchain developed games that have a competitive edge.
Securing Polygon as a partner has been an important milestone for the platform, too, which has also completed a $2.5-million funding round just recently. The round elicited interest from Play Venture, Dapper Labs, Animoca Brands, Thirty-Five Ventures and others.
Community Gaming is looking to boost its footprint in Latin American and Southeast Asia, two key jurisdictions that have a huge potential when it comes to competitive video gaming. The platform stated that more talented grassroots and organizers are joining the platform daily.
