Can the Steelers Pull Off an Upset?
The Steelers finished the season with a 10-7 record. It’s not bad at all, but they had even higher ambitions at one point in the regular season. In fact, up until a few weeks ago, they were in the hunt for the AFC North title. But then, they lost four games in a row.
To be fair to them, they lost to real heavyweights, including their Wild Card Weekend opponent, Baltimore. They also lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Their offense failed them in each of those games, but what’s really worrying ahead of the NFL Playoffs is that their defense did badly against the Ravens. They conceded 34 points that day, which was their second-worst defensive performance of 2024.
But with players like edge rusher T.J. Watt and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, Pittsburgh’s defensive team looks scary.
Reasons Why the Ravens are 9.5-Point Favorites
The Ravens have been brilliant this season, finishing the campaign with a 12-5 record. Their quarterback, Lamar Jackson, has been incredible both when it comes to passing and running the ball.
Thanks to him, they finished as the NFL’s third-best offense, with an average of 30.5 points scored per game. It’s a slightly different story when it comes to their defense. They did finish the regular season as the ninth-best defense (21.2 points conceded per game), but in some games, they made some serious blunders.
The good news, however, is that all the bad things Baltimore’s defense did were early in the season. In their last five games, they conceded under 20 points each time.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens Wild Card Prediction
The Baltimore Ravens are favored to win Saturday’s game for a reason. They simply are better than the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, we don’t think they’re so superior that they’re going to cover the 9.5-point spread.
The thing is that this is a super-important game, so the Steelers are going to throw everything they’ve got at the Ravens. Russell Wilson needs to step up and help them offensively, and their defense needs to get back on track.
Although we’re not positive they can win this game, the Steelers can definitely make things way more interesting than what odds are suggesting will happen.
Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers +9.5
