Pennsylvania Regulator Reports $5.89B Revenue, Stresses Diversity and Safety
This generated $2.54 billion in tax revenue, which has been vital in supporting local communities

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has put out its 2023-2024 reports. These reports show how well the state’s gaming industry is doing and how it helps the state. They also talk about what the PGCB is doing to encourage diversity and responsible gaming.
$2.54B in Taxes from the Gaming Industry Boosts Local Projects
The yearly reports show that the industry made $5.89 billion in revenue. This led to $2.54 billion in tax money. These funds have been key to helping local communities. The funds have been used for things like lowering school property taxes, starting economic development projects, and supporting the state’s farming industry.
The annual industry report points out that the regulated gaming industry has expanded to include 17 land-based casinos, 18 retail sports betting locations, 12 online sports wagering platforms, and 22 online casino gaming websites. The sector also saw 74 truck stop video gaming terminals and 9 online fantasy sports contest platforms in operation. Overall, the gaming industry gave jobs to 15,857 people by the end of the fiscal year, with almost 90% being residents of Pennsylvania.
The PGCB puts a lot of weight on responsible gaming. The report points out that while gaming keeps bringing in big money, the board stays focused on protecting people from gambling problems. PGCB Chair Denise J. Smyler stressed how the board works hard to make sure games are fair and to give help to folks who might start to gamble too much.
PGCB’s 17th Annual Diversity Report Highlights 41% Minority Workforce in PA Casinos
Along with its industry performance report, the PGCB put out its 17th Annual Diversity Report. The paper shows what Pennsylvania’s casinos did to build a more inclusive and diverse staff. To be specific racial minorities made up 41.4% of the workforce, while women accounted for 41.6% of employees.
Mozelle E. Daniels Director of Diversity, saw the tough competition for talent and praised casinos for using different ways to bring in and keep skilled workers. These ways included making the workplace more flexible and bringing in new ideas.
Casinos throughout Pennsylvania have also taken steps to back local businesses using more than half their buying budgets with firms based in the state. What is more, the industry has shown its dedication to giving back, donating millions to good causes and community projects over time.
As Pennsylvania’s gaming industry keeps growing, the PGCB stays focused on striking a balance between sector expansion and protecting its citizens. They do this through tight rules and ongoing work to encourage diversity and inclusion.
