Michigan Authorities Seize Illegal Gaming Machines and Gift Cards Worth $182,430
These actions came following an anonymous tip-off regarding suspicious activities at the PlayStation Bar and Grill in Bridgeport Township

Michigan state investigators executed two search warrants leading to the seizure of illegal gaming equipment and gift cards. The raids took place on 18 October and resulted in authorities confiscating six slot-type gaming machines, 11 computers, $6,306 in suspected gambling proceeds, and $182,430 worth of Simon Giftcards.
Authorities Collaborated to Ensure Decisive Action
The operation was carried out by special agents from the Department of Attorney General, with assistance from the Bridgeport Township Police Department, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Liquor Control Commission. The two search warrants targeted PlayStation Bar and Grill in Bridgeport Township and a residence associated with one of the venue’s owners, a known supplier of Nudgemaster machines.
These search warrants have not yet resulted in any arrests, but analyzing the seized equipment could lead to further legal action. Although the operation appeared relatively small-scale, Michigan authorities remain committed to addressing and combating illegal gambling activities in the state. These activities coincide with the continued gambling sector strikes, likely capitalizing on the ongoing disruptions.
Illegal Gambling Often Leads to More Serious Crime
The collaborative effort by Michigan authorities is part of a broader agenda to crack down on illegal gambling and unregulated gaming machines within the state. Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) executive director Henry Williams emphasized that such activities break the law. Illegal gambling can cause escalating crime in communities and pose consumer risks as it cannot ensure fair play.
The public is encouraged to contact us if they see a casino-type gaming machine in a restaurant, gas station, or convenience store. We investigate every tip.
Henry Williams, MGCB executive director
An anonymous signal tipped off authorities regarding the potential violations at PlayStation Bar and Grill, suspecting the venue of hosting illegal gambling. An MGCB investigation revealed some slot machines tagged with “Property of Universal Video” stickers, justifying the two search warrants. Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel emphasized the importance of collaboration between authorities, highlighting the dangers of unregulated wagering.
Illegal gambling diverts revenues from our state and schools, and these operations can pose a danger to their neighborhoods as they typically attract other types of criminal activity.
Dana Nessel, Michigan Attorney General
Michigan residents are encouraged to report illegal or suspicious gambling activity anonymously through a 24-hour tipline or by sending a non-anonymous message to a dedicated email address on the state government’s website. Concerned citizens can also anonymously submit written tips to the MGCB through an online form on the agency’s web page.
The Michigan raids emphasize the state’s efforts to ensure that gaming activities are conducted by legal and regulatory requirements, fostering fair play and a safe environment for residents. Cases like the recent Memphis police operation reveal how stopping illegal gambling operations in their early stages can be vital, as they can quickly spiral out of control, endangering local communities.
