Major Power Outage Disrupts Red Rock Casino Floor in Las Vegas

A sudden electrical failure brought parts of the Red Rock Casino Resort in Las Vegas to a standstill at the end fo last week, triggering a chilling image with entire rows of slot machines sitting in the dark.

Issues were reported shortly after 12 pm on May 29, 2026, when an alleged tripped circuit breaker left large areas of the gaming floor with no electrical power. 

In a split second, the lights dimmed, the machines shut down, and the resort was forced onto backup systems as technicians began working to determine the cause.

Guests inside the casino quickly noticed something was wrong, with social media posts starting to circulate almost immediately, showing long stretches of silent slot machines and employees moving between players to verify wins and manually process jackpot payouts. 

The unusual scene turned one of Las Vegas’ busiest casino floors into a partially powered operation, with staff working quickly to maintain order and service.

More Staff from Closeby Resorts, Brought In

According to a Station Casinos spokesperson, the property immediately responded by bringing in extra staff from other nearby resorts in an attempt to better manage the situation, amid the large number of winners who had to be hand-paid, and keeping guests looking for information during the crisis.

The process of locating the actual culprit took several hours, with the casino gradually restoring power before normal operations resumed later in the afternoon, close to 5 pm.

An internal review is currently underway in an effort to establish what exactly caused the circuit breaker to trip and whether any additional safeguards are needed. 

While the issue was resolved the same day, it highlighted how quickly technical failures can ripple through large resort operations.

Such temporary outages are not new to Las Vegas, where complex electrical systems are used to support massive gaming floors, as well as restaurants and entertainment venues. In recent years, similar incidents have impacted other properties across Sin City, often connected to equipment failures, suspected cyberattacks, power cable theft, and external damage during storms.
