Lucky Man Wins Powerball’s Second Prize in Kentucky

A lucky man from Caldwell County, Kentucky may be retiring and spending more time with his family after winning a $2 million prize from a Powerball ticket. As reported by WHAS11 late last month, a lucky winner that lives near or in Princeton won the Powerball’s second prize. The man, who chose to be anonymous, played the numbers 10-24-27-35-53 and won a prize of $1 million in the Powerball drawing from December 26.

However, the lucky winner chose to pay an extra dollar for the Power Play option which doubled his prize to $2 million. If he had matched the Powerball number 18, the man would have won the staggering $341 million Powerball jackpot.

With that in mind, the chance of winning the big Powerball jackpot that reached $410 million for the drawing on January 6, is 1 in 292.2 million. On the bright side, although the chance of winning the second prize with the first five numbers is 1 in 11.7 million, the luck was on the side of the man from Kentucky, who, after taxes will be able to take home approximately $1.4 million.

Winning Numbers Based on a Movie

Speaking to Lottery representatives, the lucky man said: “I thought I was having a heart attack“. He added that every time he was playing the Powerball, he would use the same numbers, which were based on a movie. In that movie, the character plays the numbers and wins the jackpot.

The lucky winner did not remember the name of the movie, but he revealed that he will retire and spend more time with his family. Although he had once retired, the lucky man was back to work for the last three years.

With that in mind, considering the Powerball prize, this time, the man may decide to retire permanently and enjoy more time with his loved ones. Besides the lucky winner, a bonus of $20,000 will be received by Max Fuel Xpress, which is the convenience store that sold the winning ticket.
