Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino Commences Major Expansion Worth $275M

An expansion project for the Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy, North Carolina, worth $275 million commenced on September 29 following the casino’s 7th anniversary.

The New Expansion Will Be a Major Upgrade of the Valley River Casino

The One Feather reported that on September 29 ground was broken for a project that is going to further develop and expand Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel, which is owned by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) and is being operated by Caesars Entertainment.

The budget for the expansion project is $275 million, which is about double as much as it was initially invested in the property so the project will be a major upgrade to the casino.

Whiting-Turner Construction Company has been chosen as the construction company for the project, while Convergence Strategy Group was the advisor that helped with analyzing data and making a prognosis for the potential growth and profitability of the newly expanded casino under various external factors and developments.

The New Expansion Will Add 315,158 Square Feet to the Venue

The new expansion is supposed to be ready at the beginning of 2024. It is going to see the venue grow from 311,011 square feet to 626,169 square feet.

23,359 square feet will be added to the gaming floor, which will effectively double the number of casino games that are currently on offer. In numbers the new project will expand the casino’s slot machines by 400, there will be 12 new table games, and a new poker room with 10 tables will be constructed.

The hotel part of the venue will also be expanded with the addition of a new hotel tower of 296 rooms. This means that the resort will be able to welcome 50% more guests. There will also be new amenities such as an indoor swimming pool and a fitness center.

In terms of dining, a new 12,000-square-foot rooftop restaurant will open doors. It will offer both indoor and outdoor seating with marvelous views over the surrounding mountain ranges. The restaurant will also house a bar and a wine cellar.

A great new addition to the venue’s amenities will be a spa center and salon, which will span over 9,600 square feet. The spa center will offer six rooms, where patrons will be able to enjoy various treatments, a sauna with a steam room, plunge pools, and a lounge meant for relaxation.

The parking space will also be expanded with an additional 1,700 new spaces with six stations where guests will be able to charge their electrical vehicles.

During construction, the project will provide 2,500 new jobs and when it opens it will create 100 new positions.
