Dallas Cowboys to Start the 2024 Season in Top Gear
Coach Mike McCarthy is one of the best head coaches in the NFL, so you can be certain that he’s gonna be able to get the best out of this team. And his team is pretty good in 2024. All of Dallas’ key men from last season are still on the roster, minus a couple of good defensive players (e.g., Dan Quinn).
The most important thing is that quarterback Dak Prescott and his favorite passing targets, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson are on the team. With these guys playing as they usually do, the Cowboys have nothing to worry about.
But will they play great from the start? We think they need to. The thing is that this team’s 2024 schedule is such that the worst part is at the beginning. In the first two months of the season, they need to play against several Super Bowl contenders, most notably, the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, and the San Francisco 49ers.
Are Cleveland Browns the NFL’s “Dark Horses” in 2024?
Cleveland’s star running back Nick Chubb is expected to make a huge impact on his return. He will return this season, but it probably won’t happen in the Week 1 game with the Cowboys. That said, their ground game won’t be too dangerous in their first game of the season.
Sure, quarterback Deshaun Watson will probably gain some yards rushing the ball, but that’s not his main job. Instead, his main role is to pass the ball to wide receiver Amari Cooper, tight end David Njoku, and others.
What needs to worry them is that their Week 1 opponents are great when it comes to passing defense. Last season, the Cowboys were 5th in the league in terms of opponent passing yards, allowing just 192.1 per game. Speaking of which, the Browns’ average was even more impressive – 171.1.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Cleveland Browns Prediction
In 2024, these two are very similar. They both have an amazing passing game, as well as great passing defense. If Cleveland’s RB was healthy, we’d back them to win. However, with Chubb out, we don’t think the Browns will do much rushing the ball. Their passing will be okay, but probably not as good as the one of Dallas.
What we’re saying is that we think that the Dak Prescott–CeeDee Lamb partnership will produce more touchdowns in Week 1 than the Deshaun Amari Cooper duo.
Pick: Dallas Cowboys
