Wilton Rancheria Buys Land to Upgrade Casino Property
Although the tribe could not disclose further details about the deal, it confirmed that the transaction would benefit the community

The Wilton Rancheria tribe is seeking to expand its presence in Elk Grove and further develop its property in the area. The organization confirmed that it had acquired a plot of land adjacent to its casino and teased that the purchase would contribute to the community.
The Tribe Did Not Disclose Details
The transaction was confirmed to Elk Grove Citizen on January 18. Wilton Rancheria communications manager Gianna Rogers told the local news outlet that the acquisition aligns with the tribe’s ongoing efforts to develop the area, which it has “called home since time immemorial.”
Although Rogers could not disclose further details about the deal, she confirmed that it would benefit the community.
While we do not have details to share about specific plans for the site at this time, we’re excited about the opportunities this purchase provides to continue contributing to the growth of our community.

This purchase reflects the tribe’s ongoing development of its casino hotel. While the tribal operator’s casino in Elk Grove has been open since 2022, its adjacent hotel’s development started only half a year ago. According to Wilton Rancheria’s plans, the new hotel would have 300 rooms, a spa and pool, as well as dining and beverage options.
The tribe hopes to finalize the construction and open the hotel sometime in 2027.
Wilton Rancheria Remains Committed to Benefitting the Community
In the meantime, the Wilton Rancheria continue to invest in Sacramento County, California. In November, the tribe unveiled a partnership agreement with Sacramento Republic FC. This landmark agreement positioned the tribal nation as the majority owner of the soccer team, marking the very first time a Native American nation has held majority ownership in men’s professional sports.
Jesus Tarango, Jr., the tribe’s chairman commented on the matter, saying that the Wilton Rancheria is happy to make a foray into an industry that has “not traditionally reflected the diversity of its fans or surrounding communities.”
Tarango added that the partnership is a significant step for both the tribe and the Sacramento community as a whole.
Shortly after acquiring a majority ownership in Sacramento Republic FC, the Wilton Rancheria announced a multi-year agreement with Sacramento State Athletics, agreeing to sponsor a home football game in 2025, as well as the 2026 Causeway Classic.
Alaskan Tribe Working on New Casino
In other tribal gaming news, Marnell Gaming and the Native Village of Eklutna recently broke ground on a new casino. Despite the opposition the project faces, it has so far moved fairly fast, sparking optimism about its future.
The Elkutna tribe’s casino was made possible by recent regulatory changes. Previously, gambling on Native American lands in Alaska was strictly forbidden.
