New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes 2024 NHL Odds, Time, and Prediction
It’s time for the second round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs in the NHL. One of the most interesting matchups is a clash between two Western Conference foes, the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes

The New York Rangers have been fantastic throughout the 2023-24 NHL season. After finishing in the No. 1 place in the Eastern Conference, they went on to beat the Washington Capitals 4-0 in the series in the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs.
Now, it’s time to kick off the second round series with the Carolina Hurricanes. This is a team that finished just behind them in the East in the regular season and which knocked out the New York Islanders 4-1 in the series in the previous round of the playoffs.

New York Rangers Looking Unstoppable
The New York Rangers are the best hockey team in the world in 2024. We’re not saying this without proof. These guys finished at the top of the Eastern Division, with the best record in the entire league. Then, they demolished the Capitals 4-0 in the series in the first round of the playoffs.
Their best player throughout this entire campaign has been 32-year-old Russian forward Artemi Panarin. This guy scored 49 goals in the regular season and made 71 assists. Since the start of the playoffs, he’s scored twice and made one assist.

Panarin has been terrific, but the Rangers aren’t a one-man army. They’ve got plenty of other amazing players on the roster – Mika Zibanejad, Ryan Lindgren, Adam Fox, Vincent Trocheck, and many others.
On top of everything, this team also has a fantastic goaltender in Igor Shesterkin who’s recorded four shutouts this season.
Carolina Hurricanes Relying on Their Mighty Defense
In the regular season, the Carolina Hurricanes conceded just 216 goals. Only three teams in the entire NHL allowed fewer goals than these guys. The most impressive fact is that they played against some really amazing offenses, but still managed to do well defensively.
One of those teams is the New York Rangers, which scored just four goals in total in the three duels with the Hurricanes in the regular season.
It’s no surprise really that these guys are great at the back. After all, they have Pyotr Kochetov between the sticks, as well as another four amazing goaltenders. The Hurricanes also have a couple of elite defenders on the roster, most notably, veterans Brent Burns, Brady Skjei, and Jalen Chatfield.
New York Rangers vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction
The Rangers are fantastic offensively, but the Hurricanes have defenders (and goaltenders) who look capable of stopping almost any team in the NHL. So, which of these two will win the game? We think it’s gonna be the Rangers, but they probably won’t score more than just a goal or two.
