NC Man Arrested in Vegas for Gambling with Fraudulent Check

The cashier cage employee had become suspicious and had noticed that the top number on the check did not match the bottom number

A man from North Carolina has been arrested in Las Vegas after trying to defraud a casino using a fraudulent check. The man, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, used a check with an original value of $174.80 to claim $865,000 in chips.

Nadendla Presented a Fraudulent Check

Dharma Nadendla, 41, was visiting the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas where he presented a credit union check for $380,000 at a cashier cage. He was handed a $500,000 marker – a form of credit given to casino players and allowed to play.

Later, Nadendla asked for an additional $365,000 marker, taking a total of $865,000 in chips. According to the report, he proceeded to lose all of this money on table games.

Once the man returned to his room, he called his host, asking them for yet another marker. However, at that time, the cashier cage employee had become suspicious and had noticed that the top number on the check did not match the bottom number.

As a result, casino officials contacted the man’s bank in North Carolina, learning that the check was, in fact, fraudulent. According to the NC bank, the actual value of the check was only $174.80.

The casino then proceeded to contact the police. In the meantime, casino officials told Nadendla that he could come down to the casino floor to take his marker. Once he did so, he was apprehended by the police.

Nadendla posted a bond and is scheduled to appear for a status check hearing on August 28. He now faces charges of theft of over $100K, as well as charges of burglary of a business and forgery.

Vegas Couple Stole Thousands, Clerk Appropriated a Winning Ticket

In other crime-related news, a couple from Las Vegas was arrested following a brazen theft of $652,000 from Primm Valley Resort and Casino. The elderly couple robbed the property, running away with $625,000 in cash and $27,000 in casino chips.

Elsewhere, a Tennessee clerk recently tried to appropriate a customer’s winning ticket. The wrongdoer told the client that the ticket didn’t win anything, prompting them to throw it in the trash. The clerk then reclaimed the ticket from the bin and tried to claim it at the lottery headquarters. Unfortunately for him, lottery officials suspected fraud and launched an investigation.
