Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Week 18 NFL Odds, Time, and Prediction

The Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Week 18 game will determine the No. 1 seed in the National Football Conference. Whoever wins at Ford Field on Sunday, January 5, will secure a first-round bye in the 2025 Playoffs.

The No. 1 seed skips the Wild Card round, earns the right to host all of its Playoff games (except the Super Bowl), and gets to face the lowest seed from the conference in the first round. So, which team will win the No. 1 seed in the National Football Conference – Minnesota Vikings or Detroit Lions?

We’ll find out the answer on Sunday, January 5, when the two lock horns at Detroit’s Ford Field. Both teams are coming into Week 18 with a 14-2 record, meaning that the winner of the Vikings vs. Lions game will get the No. 1 Seed in the NFC.

Minnesota Vikings’ Incredible Form Gives Them Hope for Week 18

Minnesota Vikings haven’t won against the Detroit Lions in the last four games. Further, the last time they beat the Lions in Detroit was four years ago. But they’re determined to end the wait.

Winning this game isn’t just about securing the perks of the No. 1 seed; it’s also about avoiding the pitfalls of losing. The loser drops to the No. 5 seed and faces a road game in the Wild Card Round.

As a result, they could face a real heavyweight in the first game of the postseason. It could be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Rams, or Atlanta Falcons, depending on their Week 18 results.

Obviously, the Vikings have the motivation to win in Week 18, but do they have the manpower to produce such a feat? Well, people have been doubting them throughout the season, but Kevin O’Connell’s men have been proving everyone wrong.

They’re on a 9-win streak, with their quarterback Sam Darnold playing the best football of his life. This guy threw 12 touchdowns in the last four games, which shows that he’s in brilliant form. That’s three TDs per game on average; can he do something similar in Week 18?
