Massachusetts Father Buys Eight Winning Tickets, Shares One with Son
Each single ticket was a winning one, netting the lucky player some $100,000 per ticket
A Massachusetts father has won almost a million dollars from the Mass Cash game. After buying several identical winning tickets, the man decided to share some of the spoils with his son.
Former Lottery Winner Scores Eight Wins
The man was identified as Eugene Girard, of Norwood, a former winner of a $1 million prize from the lottery. It seems that Girard does not care about the saying that lightning doesn’t strike twice, as his recent tickets won him another $800,000.
According to the report, Girard decided to buy eight tickets using the exact same numbers. This turned each single ticket into a winning one, netting him $100,000 per ticket. Instead of keeping it all to himself, however, Girard opted to redeem seven of the tickets and give one to his son, Matthew Girard.
As a result, Girard and his son collected $700,000 and $100,000, respectively.
All of the tickets were bought at Pam’s Market on Pleasant Street in Norwood on October 24. The store was given an $8,000 bonus for selling the winning entries.
Girard and His Son Both Plan to Buy a New Car
In an interview with lottery officials, Girard Senior said that the numbers he chose were numbers he often uses when playing the lottery. He added that he plans to use his winnings to purchase a new car and refurbish his home, while saving some. His son was likewise looking forward to buying a new vehicle and noted that he plans to invest the rest.
Mass Cash recently introduced a midday drawing, providing participants with more chances. Since Girard and his son took their prizes, five more players have won similar prizes from the game.
These included a Quincy player whose ticket was purchased on the same day, followed by two October 27 winners, another on October 28, and a final one on October 30.
