Man Wounded During Illegal Gambling Hub Shooting Passes Away
Likely attracted by the money associated with gambling, the shooters entered the venue and shot their two victims before fleeing the scene in a damaged white SUV
A man who had been wounded during the robbery of an illegal gambling establishment in Queens has passed away. A second man had been shot but was later released from the hospital.
An Unfortunate Victim Was Shot in the Head
The unfortunate accident occurred on December 19, at an illegal gambling den in Queens, the New York Daily News reported last month. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire and rushed to the scene and found the two wounded men.
One of the victims, Yun Li, 37, was shot in the head and was in critical condition, according to the earlier report. A second report has now confirmed that he passed away four days later. He lived close to the gambling den in which he was shot, Daily News added in its latest report.
As mentioned, an anonymous second man was shot in the cheek but was left with non-life-threatening injuries and later released from the hospital.
Li and the other man are believed to have been customers at the unlicensed establishment when the incident occurred.
The Shooters Are on the Run
The incident involved three armed men who raided the den at approximately 9:20 pm on December 19. Likely attracted by the money associated with gambling, the men entered the venue and shot their two victims before fleeing the scene in a damaged white SUV.
The venue where the shooting occurred is believed to be one of many such dens in the area. A local told reporters that there are a few such rooms around but noted that this was the only time he knew of when people had actually been shot.
As of the time of this writing, no arrests have been made.
Another Shooting in the Area
In other news, several people were wounded in an unrelated shooting at a nightclub in the Jamaica neighborhood in Queens. The shots were fired by a group of four armed men who shot a total of six women and four men, aged 16 to 20. Luckily, none of the victims appear to have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
The police are now on the lookout for a light-colored sedan, which the shooters are believed to have used to flee the scene.
