Truth be told, they were lucky to play relatively easy opponents in the postseason – they avoided playing Inter Miami and LAFC, who were the top two favorites. This is why many still believe that winning last year’s title was a sort of glitch.

San Diego FC’s First-Ever MLS Game

San Diego FC is a brand-new MLS franchise that is making its debut this weekend. This team has only played three friendly games so far, winning one and losing two of those. The one they won, however, was against the NY Red Bulls a few days ago – they beat the Eastern Conference champions 6:0.

While friendlies aren’t always representative of teams’ true quality, the win has certainly given them a huge morale boost. Another thing that gives them confidence is that they’ve got some pretty good players on the roster.

This team is actually the 8^th-most valuable in the MLS, with Mexican winger Hirving Lozano being San Diego’s most expensive player. Danish winger Anders Dreyer is second on the list, followed by his compatriot, Marcus Ingvartsen, who’s a striker.
