Jon Jones Going for the GOAT Status
Jon Jones is currently 27-1-1, but there are reports that the UFC will overturn his only loss. The defeat in question happened back in 2009 when due to illegal elbow strikes, he lost by a disqualification.
When it comes to the fight that was declared a no-contest, this happened after the fight with Daniel Cormier. Originally, Jones won the fight by a KO, but it was overturned after he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
The fight in question was for the UFC Light Heavyweight title. Jones held that title until 2020, after which he took a break from fighting before moving to the UFC Heavyweight division in 2023.
His divisional debut happened against Ciryl Gane. Jones was expected to go to war with the French kickboxing expert, but he got the job done after only 124 seconds, beating Gane by a guillotine choke.
Now, he’s supposed to fight Stipe Miocic, one of the last remaining fighters from the glory days of the heavyweight division.
Stipe Miocic Coming Back to the Octagon After 1,330 Days
Stipe Miocic (20-4) is a 42-year-old heavyweight who last fought in March 2021. That’s when Francis Ngannou put him to sleep with a second-round KO. The last time Miocic won a fight was in August 2020.
That’s when he beat Daniel Cormier in a unanimous decision. The last time he got a win by a finish happened against the same opponent a year earlier.
Miocic is big and strong and has plenty of weapons in his arsenal. He’s a hell of a wrestler with impressive grappling, but who prefers striking duels. In his prime, he was one of the scariest men on Earth. However, in 2024, he might not be capable of beating a possible GOAT of martial arts.
Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic Prediction
We just have to pick Jon Jones to win this fight. He’s much better than Miocic in terms of fighting skills, and he looks as if he’s in top physical shape right now. Miocic might be tough, but he just cannot survive fighting for the full five rounds. Our prediction is that Jones will finish him much sooner, possibly even in Round 1.
Pick: Jon Jones
