Hard Rock Bet Brings Slot-Like Games to Florida
Industry analysts note that Hard Rock Bet’s approach closely resembles the “historical horse racing” system adopted in several US states
Hard Rock Bet has made a daring move in Florida’s online gaming scene by rolling out a new type of betting that mixes sports wagering with casino gameplay. The company has unveiled a set of games called Games Powered by Past Motor Races — a product that looks like slot machines but falls under the legal category of sports betting.
Hard Rock Bet Unveils Slot-Style Games Driven by Real Past Motor Race Results
The games are now open to a small group of users on the Hard Rock Bet app, determining results based on past NASCAR and other motor races. Unlike typical slot machines that use random number generators, each round relies on actual race data already recorded. Users see a list of unnamed race odds, pick the order cars will finish, and then watch a slot-like display spin its reels to show if they have won.
From a visual standpoint, the game resembles a typical online slot machine featuring bright symbols and audio cues. However, the underlying mechanics differ. Each “spin” reflects the result of one or more previous races, making it a type of player-against-house sports betting instead of a casino game. The app includes a function that lets users view which past race determined their outcome, adding a level of openness not often seen in similar games.
Seminole Tribe Tests New Legal Ground with Hard Rock Bet’s Innovative Games
Industry experts say Hard Rock Bet’s strategy mirrors the “historical horse racing” (HHR) model some US states use. In this setup, people bet on horse races that have already happened, with the horses’ identities hidden. The Florida version swaps out horses for car races, getting around the parimutuel laws that control horse betting. The legal team for the Seminole Tribe, which runs Hard Rock Bet, seems sure that this new offering fits the state’s 2021 gaming agreement. This agreement allows betting on past sports events.
Right now, you can find 21 games in the new lobby, and you need to bet at least $1 on each – just like other sports bets on the site. How much you win depends on the odds for each car’s performance. If you bet on cars with long odds and win, you could get bigger payouts, maybe even hit the jackpot.
Florida law still says no to online casino games. However, this new feature gives Hard Rock Bet users something that feels like a casino game, while still following sports betting rules. People are talking about it on social media, and it looks like not everyone in Florida can use it yet.
This suggests the company is rolling it out bit by bit. It is unclear if officials will accept this new take on the agreement. For now, Hard Rock Bet’s Games Powered by Past Motor Races is one of the most inventive and bold attempts to bring casino-like entertainment to Florida’s online sports betting scene.
