Florida Lottery Ticket Worth $20.5M Still Unclaimed

For someone out there, checking their lottery ticket sold earlier this month could be the difference between their regular self and becoming a millionaire – or at least richer

According to the Florida Lottery, there has been no attempt to retrieve a lottery ticket worth $20.5 million from a ticket sold earlier in August. The purchase was made at a Murphy USA gas station in Kissimmee with the anonymous player scooping up rewards along the way.

Winning Big in Florida Lotto, But Only 180 Days to Claim Reward

The player was trying to guess a six-number combination involving the numbers from 1 to 53, and succeeded, overcoming a one in 22,957,480 odds in doing so, the lottery confirmed, with the winning numbers 10, 11, 14, 17, 39, and 49 turning the anonymous lottery hopeful into a millionaire – or at least making them richer.

However, August 12’s lottery statement also revealed that the response has been slow with no one stepping forward to claim the reward, usually an indicator that the person is hardly aware that they had probably changed their life in a big way.

Another reason is that many players who scoop up a reward of this size prefer to consult with financial advisors and familiarize themselves with the practical implications, such as the tax they ought to pay, and more.

However, they should also hurry up because there is a 180-day deadline for claiming the reward, and it started ticking down on August 7. Jackpots have been all over the news with many people making headlines in the most bizarre of ways.

Winning Jackpots in the Showiest Way Possible

For example, one man from Michigan was playing the Fantasy 5 game. They missed the jackpot by a single number only to realize that their new ticket – on the very next day – had won the next drawing, fetching him $795,905.

Meanwhile, a player in Virginia was pleasantly taken aback when they found out that what they originally thought to be a $100 jackpot ended up a $100,000 payday.

Lotteries have been hailed for their substantial contributions to local budgets, and have been one of the least objectionable types of gambling across the United States, with regular draws offering multi-million rewards daily.
