Crown Resorts Names Veteran IR Executive David Tsai as CEO
David Tsai commented on his new appointment as CEO, saying that he is looking forward to leading the company through the next phase of transformation

Australian casino and hospitality giant Crown Resorts announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer. The appointee will step into the office amid the business’ recovery in the wake of regulatory scrutiny.
A Proven IR Executive Joins Crown as CEO
As announced by Crown Resorts’ board of directors, it has selected David Tsai as its new CEO, subject to regulatory approvals. Tsai, who is no stranger to Crown’s business, is well aware of the ongoing transformation efforts and has the qualities expected from a Crown leader.
Tsai originally joined the group as chief executive of its Crown Perth property in December 2022. As a member of the group’s leadership, he played a role in the company’s remediation efforts following the findings of the Finkelstein Royal Commission.
Tsai is an experienced industry executive who has formerly worked for MGM Resorts International and is intimately familiar with the gambling and hospitality sector’s intricacies. In addition to that, he has held executive positions at a variety of gambling properties. These include MGM’s MGM Grand Detroit and Northfield Park properties, as well as Gold Strike Casino Resort, Monte Carlo Resort & Casino and ARIA Resort & Casino.
His appointment follows the departure of Ciaran Carruthers who left the company in September.
David Tsai Is Looking Forward to Positioning Crown to Thrive
David Tsai commented on his new appointment as CEO, saying that he is looking forward to leading the company through the next phase of transformation. He also emphasized that his ambition is to cement Crown Resorts as a leading entertainment destination.
With the support of our talented and committed team, our goal is for Crown Resorts to be the ultimate entertainment destination in each of our cities, positioning Crown to thrive long into the future.
David Tsai, CEO, Crown Resorts
Tsai was welcomed on board by John Borghetti, who was named chair earlier this year. Borghetti described the new CEO as a “capable, proven and experienced integrated resorts executive” and said that he is well-positioned to lead the company’s transformation, growth and success.
As CEO, David will focus on the highest standards of guest experience across each of our resorts, including the refurbishment and launch of exciting new venues and experiences at each of our properties throughout 2025 and beyond, while continuing our commitment to safe and responsible gaming.
John Borghetti, chair, Crown Resorts
Borghetti concluded that the board is very pleased to be able to appoint someone as talented as Tsai to the CEO role.
