BetMGM Launches Gift Cards with TAPPP to Facilitate Deposits
BetMGM, the online sportsbook and iGaming brand, has teamed up with payments processing provider TAPPP to launch branded gift cards ahead of the NFL season. The gift cards are available immediately and will range from $25 to $50 across eight states and 6,000 points of sales in the US.
Just in Time for the NFL’s Season Start
BetMGM gift cards can be purchased in regulated states that allow sports betting and will be sold through popular chains such as Speedway, Sheetz, Dollar General, Kum & Go and others. These cards will also arrive with a $10 bonus, the press release explained, as the company is looking to quickly scale its offer and roll them out across newly-regulated places and jurisdictions, such as Washington, DC.
Gift cards are a viable market move that may not only pertain to sports betting, as the shopping season for the holidays ahead is already here. With shoppers opting into at least one gift card, BetMGM may secure an entry into a multi-billion market. Besides, BetMGM is only following the example of DraftKings and InComm Payments, which launched their industry-first gift card in December 2020.
DraftKings, too, is using its gift cards to power the casino and sports betting platform in the available and licensed markets. Some of the advantages of using a gift card include a safer overall depositing experience. BetMGM head of payments Maria Tomlinson explained that consumers have repeatedly asked for an efficient way to top up their accounts.
BetMGM Gift Cards to Lessen Deposit Friction
Deposit failures have often been cited as an unpleasant drawback by consumers. “Just in time for the start of football season, we’re thrilled to introduce an option for players to quickly and securely fund their BetMGM accounts while avoiding deposit failures,” added Tomlinson.
TAPPP founder and CEO Sandy Agarwal welcomed the opportunity and said that BetMGM is synonymous with sports betting in the US. It is the perfect partner for the company, Agarwal noted, to make iGaming and sports betting more accessible for all.
Expanding the available funding options for sports fans is an important way to bolster the BetMGM experience, the executive added, confident that gift cards will help solve some of the traction players usually get when dealing with deposits.
