BetMGM is parting ways with its chief marketing officer, Casey Hurbis, after a little over a year. Hurbis said that he was pleased with the progress the company made during his time there and called the stint a “high-velocity chapter” in his career.
Hurbis Helped BetMGM Stay Ahead of the Curve
Hurbis joined the broader MGM team in December 2024. As chief marketing officer of the company, he leveraged his robust industry expertise to help the brand differentiate itself from its competition. To that end, he supported a variety of initiatives, including the launch of the “Make It Legendary” campaign last fall.
For context, Make It Legendary featured renowned actor Jon Hamm, who allowed BetMGM to reimagine what it stands for. The campaign was produced by Highdive.
During his time as CMO, Hurbis also onboarded a variety of former athletes as brand ambassadors, greatly improving BetMGM’s visibility.
Before joining BetMGM, Hurbis served Rocket Mortgage in a similar role. He also spent a year as a marketing committee member for the 2024 NFL Draft. Earlier still, Hurbis worked in a variety of roles at FCA Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, following a 17-year tenure at BBDO.
Hurbis now serves as a board member for multiple notable businesses, including Nano Magic, Adweek, Adcraft Detroit, Google, and Brand Innovators, among others.
The End of a High-Velocity Chapter
Speaking about his decision to depart, Hurbis said that the time he spent with BetMGM has been a “high-velocity chapter” for him. He added that even though his time with the company was short, it was very productive.
We didn’t just move the needle; we enjoyed BetMGM’s best year ever, and we redefined the brand playbook.

Hurbis listed the company’s CRM transformation, and AI integrations as some of the most notable accomplishments of his stint as BetMGM CMO. He also lauded the Make It Legendary campaign, saying that it was a “proof of concept” for what happens when companies embrace a bold vision.
As of the time of this writing, BetMGM has yet to announce Hurbis’s successor.
A few weeks ago, BetMGM officially put a stop to credit card use for its sports betting and online casino products. As of March 31, the company is no longer accepting credit card-fueled transactions.
