Reasons Why Sha’Carri Richardson Is Favored to Win
BetOnline’s oddsmakers heavily favor the United States runner Sha’Carri Richardson to win the gold medal. One of the main reasons is that a couple of weeks ago, she defended her title as the US champion, winning the 100m race in 10.71 seconds.
Her personal record, however, was set a year ago in Budapest. She won the World Championship by finishing the 100m race in just 10.65s. That’s better than the personal best of Sherika Jackson (10.65s) and Julien Alfred (10.78s), who are her two main competitors for the gold medal on August 3.
Sha’Carri Richardson’s personal best of 10.65s is only slightly worse than the Olympic record set by Elaine Thompson-Herah at the previous Games. At the 2021 Olympics in Japan, the Jamaican runner won Gold with a time of 10.61s. Unfortunately for her, she won’t be competing in Paris due to an injury, which means that Richardson should have a relatively easy job.
Can Someone Snatch Gold Off Sha’Carri Richardson?
Sha’Carri Richardson is the betting favorite for a reason – she’s the fastest woman in the world in 2024. But in this sport, anything can happen, which is why it’s not crazy to think some other athlete can stage an upset on August 3.
If it happens, who’s gonna win Gold? The 100m Olympics odds suggest Sherika Jackson and Julien Alfred are Richardson’s top rivals, but we also must not forget about Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Melissa Jefferson, and Marie-Josee Ta Lou.
Dina Asher-Smith is also there, but the British runner will probably focus more on the 200m discipline.
2024 Olympics Women’s 100m Prediction
Surprises do happen at the Olympic Games, but we think nothing strange will happen on August 3. We predict that the odds-on favorite Sha’Carri Richardson will win the gold medal. She’s in top shape, coming off some big performances in the last couple of months, which is why it’s safe to say she’s very, very likely to triumph in Paris.
Pick: Sha’Carri Richardson
