Javelin Odds Hint Neeraj Chopra Can Win Another Olympic Gold
Three years ago, Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win the Men’s Javelin Throw event at the Olympics. Not only that, but he was the only athlete to win an Olympic medal for India in at the Games in Tokyo, thus becoming an instant superstar in his home country.
The eyes of a billion Indians will be on the 26-year-old Indian Army subedar who’s expected to bring home another medal. It’s almost certain that he’s going to win one of the three medals, but will it be the gold one?
Neeraj Chopra’s odds for the 2024 Olympics Men Javelin event are +200, suggesting that there’s a very good chance he can pull it off. Not only is he the defending champion in this discipline, but he’s also been in great shape lately.
Last year at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, he won Gold, once again proving that he’s one of the world’s best javelin throwers. The athletes who won the other two medals are Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem and Jakub Vadlejch from the Czech Republic. These two are seen as Chopra’s main rivals for the gold medal on August 11, along with Germany’s Julian Weber.
Can Arshad Nadeem Ruin Chopra’s Plans at the Olympics?
Even though the 2024 Olympics Javelin odds of Arshad Nadeem are longer than those of Jakub Vadlejch and Julian Weber, the Pakistani athlete seems like Chopra’s biggest rival. He’s the one who finished second in Budapest last year. He threw the javelin 87.82m, which is just .65 less than Chopra.
However, that happened just three months after he suffered a knee injury at the 2023 National Games of Pakistan. A year earlier, we saw him make a throw of 90.18m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, which remains his personal best.
What’s interesting is that that’s better than the personal best of Neeraj Chopra (89.94m).
2024 Olympics Men’s Javelin Prediction
The 2024 Olympics Javelin odds favor Neeraj Chopra, but we think his fiercest rival Arshad Nadeem will be the one to win the gold medal on August 8. When he’s fit, he’s capable of anything, including beating Chopra and others.
Pick: Arshad Nadeem
