Brend-New Washington Commanders Ready for Week 1
In 2024, the Washington Commanders have a new coach. Dan Quinn was put in charge of the team to replace Ron Rivera. Quinn’s previous role was the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, while before that, he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for five years.
He’s bringing Joe Whitt Jr. with him, the former secondary coach for the Cowboys whose new job is the defensive coordinator for the Commanders. Washington’s new offensive coordinator is Kliff Kingsbury, the former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals who led the USC Trojans last season.
Apart from making big changes in the coaching department, the Commanders also have plenty of new faces in the team. Their new quarterback is the 2023 Heisman winner Jayden Daniels who was their first pick (2nd overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft. They also made three good picks in the second round.
In addition to strengthening their roster with rookies, the Commanders also signed some experienced NFL players, most notably, 6x Pro Bowler linebacker Bobby Wagner and 3x Pro Bowler tight end Zach Ertz.
The Commanders’ new acquisitions look really good, but the question remains whether these guys will need some time to adjust. Guess we’ll find out the answer in Week 1.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hoping for Another NFC South Win
The NFC South is one of the softest NFL divisions in 2024. In fact, it’s been like that for years, which explains why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the defending champs of this division, even though you can’t call them an NFL powerhouse.
They do have a good coach in Todd Bowles, as well as many pretty decent players, including wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Their quarterback is Baker Mayfield, who might be their weak link. He’s not bad, but he definitely isn’t elite. In fact, we believe that both Evans and Godwin would post much better numbers if the Bucs had a different QB.
Their ground game also doesn’t look too dangerous, with their defense probably being their strongest weapon.
Washington Commanders vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Prediction
We’re very bullish on the Washington Commanders who are bound to have a good season. The only question is whether they’ll start playing at their best level from the very start. We think they will struggle against the Buccaneers, but we do have faith in them to start the 2024 campaign with a win.
Pick: Washington Commanders
