UK: Conman Turned Tipster Argues with Bookmakers over Ban

A man described by law enforcement as a prolific conman who has been to jail on a couple of occasions due to fraud, recently posted a video on social media where he’s seen arguing with employees of bookmakers. That’s the case of Jason Haddigan, a man who in 2021 was charged with two counts of fraud and entered into a guilty plea, resulting in a 21-week prison sentence.

Tipster Not Allowed to Place Bets by Bookmakers

Haddigan, who according to media reports now uses the name George White, offers tips for sports bettors online. On X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, he goes by the nickname JasyGeorgeybaby MOOSHTIPS and describes himself: “Award winning professional horse racing tipster.”

Via his website, he offers a range of membership pricing to grant his followers sports betting tips. The membership price list offered by Haddigan starts from £15.59 ($19.40) per month and goes all the way up to £720 ($896) for a lifetime subscription for tips.

In a recently posted video on X, the self-proclaimed tipster is seen arguing with employees at the popular bookmakers Ladbrokes and William Hill. On several occasions, he is told by employees that they cannot accept his wager, due to a lifetime ban on betting activities.

In the caption of the aforementioned video, Haddigan argues that his bookmakers’ ban ended in 2019. However, he wrote that the bookmakers are still not letting him place wagers. In his publication released earlier this week, Haddigan also claimed that he uses an on-course bookmaker that would accept any of his wagers up to £500,000 ($622,300).

A Loyal Base of 8,000 Members

On X, Haddigan can be seen demonstrating a lavish lifestyle. In a separate video released after the one where he’s seen arguing with bookmakers’ employees, the tipster admitted to receiving a lot of comments from William Hill, Coral and Ladbrokes staff, jokingly adding: “Surely you must of all forgiven me by now? Please don’t hold grudges! I don’t! Even though I conned you all out of over £5 million.”

In the video in question, Haddigan is seen emptying a bag full of money onto a table. A caption on the screen reads: “It was so set up, they actually let me take the 88 large (£88,0000) home too.”

In a separate publication, Haddigan claimed to be in Cancun, Mexico, explaining that he continues to watch every single race. The serial conman also claimed he has a loyal base of 8,000 members.

Haddigan Had Troubles with the Law

In 2021, Haddigan was investigated by the Dyfed-Powys Police after he allegedly defrauded a couple of shops out of several thousand pounds. At the time, police said that he was using the same scheme he used years ago.

The Officer on the case PC Jade Probert explained: “His technique was to befriend cashiers in betting shops, gaining their trust. He would then deliberately scribble and forge vetting slips and use his knowledge of the working procedures and equipment they use to con the cashier with a sleight of hand technique to switch the original slip for a forged one.”

Ultimately, those actions resulted in a guilty plea and a reduced prison sentence of 21 weeks handed by the Swansea Crown Court.

But that wasn’t Haddigan’s first encounter with the law. Back in 2014, he was convicted of conspiracy to defraud. He received a sentence of 14 months in prison. A five-year order banning him from all bookmakers in Wales and England was also issued at the time.
