Three New Casinos Given the Green Light by Puerto Rico’s Gaming Commission

Puerto Rico’s Gaming Commission has offered three fresh casino licenses to three of the island’s hotels located in the southern area. The licensed casino operations in the three hotel casinos are expected to generate 500 jobs while stimulating the economy of the Caribbean island.

Tribute Portfolio, Aloft, and Hampton Inn to Soon Receive Casino Players

Tribute Portfolio, Aloft, and Hampton Inn are the names of the three hotels that will receive domestic guests and tourists eager to hit the slots or table games in the future. Located in San Juan, Aloft Hotel is an eclectic venue with a relaxing minimalist style located nearby Isla Grande Airport. Its location makes it an excellent choice for tourists eager to visit the island and travel by plane. The hotel is willing to invest $42 million to build a gambling hall on its premises.

Hampton Inn and Tribute Portfolio are still under construction and they have not yet announced the exact amounts they plan on investing into building their casino halls. All three hotel casinos will promote tourism on the island through and support the development and growth of the gaming market in the region, while also giving jobs to 500 people.

The New Licenses Give Confidence to Future Players and Investors

Gaming Commission’s director Orlando Rivera Carrión considered the opening of the three casinos an essential part of the growth of Ponce’s economy and tourism while expressing the regulator’s satisfaction for having brought its contribution to this historical decision. The casinos will generate $72 million in the upcoming ing decade, with 51% of the profits reaching the government’s

treasury and the rest of the profits staying with the casinos. Last December, the Gaming Commission issued three new casino licenses, including Condado Plaza Hilton and Embassy Suites by Hilton-Dorado.

The fact that the upcoming casinos will operate under the strict supervision and legal requirements of the reputable Gaming Commission is also very likely to promote confidence in the gaming market in Puerto Rico for both gamers and future operators interested in investing their money in the local economy. Casino activities are known to heavily affect society as a whole by creating new workplaces, improving the collection of taxes, and making local companies more powerful.

While legal since July 29, 2019, sports betting in Puerto Rico went through a lengthy regulatory process. It took until last November for the Gaming Commission to finally start handing out the request forms for sports betting operators interested in conducting their business on the island. BetMGM partnered with Casino del Mar for a license issued by the Gambling Commission on February 11, thus becoming the island’s pioneer sports betting platform to operate legally. Bettors can also opt for a retail sportsbook in San Juan at the Casino del Mar. The three newly licensed casinos may also incorporate sports betting in their offerings, especially given the success of Casino del Mar’s sports betting services for this year’s Super Bowl.
