DraftKings Approved for Daily Fantasy Sport in Louisiana

Leading daily fantasy and sportsbook operator DraftKings announced today it gained approval to offer fantasy sport contests in the state of Louisiana.

DraftKings’ DFS Expands into Louisiana

DraftKings received a daily fantasy sport (DFS) license from the Louisiana Gaming Control Board and will soon launch its fantasy sport contests across approved parishes in Louisiana after the state became the 44th US jurisdiction to officially approve DFS offering of the Boston-based brand.

“As DraftKings continues our nationwide expansion, we welcome Louisiana to the DraftKings family, an area rich with culture, heritage, and die-hard fanbases in both professional and college sports.”

In addition to the dozen of contests on sports from NFL, MLB and NBA, as well as Australian football and various eSports events, Louisiana sports fans will also be able to test their skills across their favorite teams via the operator’s signature second-screen experience.

The Pelican State has three major professional teams, NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans, NFL’s New Orleans Saints and Louisiana Bayou Storm Surge of the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), as well as multiple D-I collegiate programs.

“The Bayou will now have access to our world-leading Daily Fantasy Sports product as we ramp up toward the kickoff of football season.”

Alongside traditional sports contests, customers at DraftKings in Louisiana will also have a chance to participate in DFS contests, which provide funds for charity purposes, like the recently announced contest in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation, seeking to raise funds and plant one million trees by Earth Day 2022.

Contest Enhancements and Level Playing Field

To optimize the customer experience for residents in approved parishes, DraftKings will launch a number of innovations, including the Fair Play Commitment Initiative, in which the operator will prohibit top-earning or more experienced players from participating in beginner and casual contests to establish a level playing field.

Besides launching new and enhanced favorite game variants like Showdown and Classic, DraftKings will also offer the first-ever DFS platform where customers have the option to create and fully customize contests of their own and participate with their friends or colleagues.

To celebrate the launch in Louisiana, the DFS operator is offering a $3 credit for a paid contest for every customer with a first deposit of a minimum of $5.

Committed to creating inclusive and responsible gaming via its S.E.R.V.E.S program, DraftKings is fully embracing its role to mitigate harm and protect people at risk, ready to deploy technology, training, resources and financial support for evidence-based research.
